Since everyone know that Monday is the best day of the week ( - __ - ) I decided to treat myself to a manicure and pedicure. I figured this would be the best way to cure the Monday blues. Boy was I wrong. I visited a nail salon, called Nail Salon (is that creative or what) in Freeport, NY to get my nails done. As soon as I walked through the door I was bum rushed by every Chinese lady that worked there. I choose Kim since she spoke the best English of the bunch or so I thought. Upon sitting down at her station I realized she had no clue what I was saying and just nodded her head and smiled the whole time. I told her I want my nails square and she proceeded to make them round. I told her to cut my toe nails and she filed them. She did however introduce me to gel manicures (a manicure that last up to 10 days). Finally the clouds opened up and heaven shined down upon me. "She did something right!"
I thanked her as a waddled my freshly painted toe nails to the drying station smiling the whole time. The smile quickly faded when she showed me my bill. "$40!!!".
Unbelievable. $23 just for the manicure. Unless Kim killed a whale, cut it open and used the blubber from its stomach to make the gel to put on my nails herself, I will never again get a gel manicure. But my nails do look nice and shiny : )
To make a long story short, never judge a book by its cover. Or in my case, never judge a book it's knowledge of the English language or lack of.
