DIY Hair Dying = BAD IDEA!

So in an attempt to release the inner beautician that lives inside my head, I decided to DYE MY OWN HAIR. Awe hell, who am I fooling, I was BEING CHEAP so I did it on my own.

I went to a beauty supply store in Elmont, NY and explained to the lady working there that I wanted to dye my dark brown hair blonde. She assumed I was a beautician (and I didn't correct her) and pointed me in the direction of the dyes (the ones that require you to mix the powder in with some solution). After about a HALF HOUR of standing in one spot trying to google which product to get, as well as which number would make my hair the blondest (10, 20 30, or 40), I just grabbed something and went to the register. The lady gave me a funny look and said "Are you sure this is what you want?" Confidently I said "Yes ma'am. Why?" She laughed and said "Because you grabbed a packet of powder and a tub a Creme of Nature PERM!" I explained to her that this was my first time attempting this and I am not a professional.
Her response: RUN, DON'T DO IT!!!!

I said ok, and went to the Walgreen's close to my house. I brought Creme of Nature Ginger Blonde. On YouTube it said because my hair is dark I have to go a few steps lighter so I chose to go damn near platinum.
So I left the PERMANENT dye in for 30 mins and when I rinsed it out all I could say was "Damn, I F'ed up." My hair looked like Goku's from Dragon Ball Z.

NOT EXACTLY WHAT WAS ON THE BOX!

It was bad enough my hair looked like a TROLL doll's hair, but now I was scared I would wake up bald-headed in the morning. I NEVER PRAYED SO HARD IN MY LIFE! I even said a few Hail Marys.

I woke up early the next morning and went straight to the hair salon.
My salon of choice was CLASSIQUE HAIR BOUTIQUE located on 435 Merrick Road in Oceanside, NY. I walked in with my hood on and sat in Debbie's chair. The decor and the people working there were more than amazing. The Boutique had a very upscale almost regal look to it. It felt like I should've been sitting under the dryer next to OPRAH WINFREY - Yes I know Oprah more than likely has her own private team of beauticians, but you get my point (kudos to the decorating team).

Needless to say, Debbie did an EXCELLENT job on my hair!

If your ever in the Oceanside, NY area and you had an "EXPERIMENT GONE WRONG" done on your head, stop by and see them. I promise you won't be disappointed!

Moral of the story: Leave the hair dying and frying to the Professionals.

- Being SQUARE isn't so bad!
